The 50 Things to do Before You’re 5 app continues to grow in popularity throughout the region. There are around 3,500 users across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, 675 of which are within the Opportunity Area.
The app aims to help parents/carers develop their home learning environment using free and low-cost activities to help children thrive by the age of five. Through the app, it is hoped that more children will develop the skills, language and resilience needed in school and beyond. It encourages parents and carers to consider the wide range of experiences available to them in their local areas and to get out and about with children.
Early years settings are being supported to use the app to open conversations about home learning with the families attending their provision. Early years settings can access webinars, tutorials and targeted support which aim to:
- improve understanding about the importance of home learning
- improve understanding of the barriers some families face to developing their home learning environment
- demonstrate how to use the app in practical ways to support home learning.
