Parent Champions help provide information to other parents about the local services available to families, such as childcare and other early years services. By sharing their own experiences of using a local service for their children, Parent Champions can encourage parents to make the best of the available help and ease any worries or concerns they may have. A fuller description of the role can be found on the Cambridgeshire County Council website.
Cambridgeshire Early Years and Childcare service (CambsEYC) is working in partnership with Coram Family and Childcare to set up a Parent Champion Volunteer Scheme in the Fenland and East Cambridgeshire Opportunity Area.
The scheme aims to recruit parents who have previously taken up a Funded Two’s place for their child and would like to support other parents to do the same. More information about the scheme can be found at www.bit.ly/ParentChamps
CambsEYC has been able to work with Red Door Films to create a promotional film about the project and is asking for your help to promote this exciting opportunity to the parents in your setting.
Please can you:
- Upload the film link https://youtu.be/9zffpnY2kgE to your websites and social media platforms
- Share the film link and webpage www.bit.ly/ParentChamps with the hashtag #ParentChampions
- Mention the project in your newsletters and add the link where possible
- Highlight it directly to any parent who you think would be interested in finding out more about the role
The Parent Champion scheme will provide huge benefits for both the volunteer and the parents that the volunteers support to take up the Funded Two’s offer. For further information, please email Sarah.Storey@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
