The Opportunity Area (OA) is offering fully funded STEPs Refresher training for up to two members of staff for schools within Fenland and East Cambridgeshire.
STEPs is a therapeutic, whole-school approach to managing behaviour. Training includes theory, a number of analysis tools and planning tools that support whole-school and individual needs. STEPs is a therapeutic approach to positive behaviour management and is already established in many education settings. The STEPs approach is based on the following shared principles:
- A focus on analysis to understand the needs of children and young people and how to plan effectively for those needs
- An understanding of the factors that lead to both internalised and externalised behaviour
- Emphasis on policy and planning as methods to support school staff
- Risk management
- Reparation, reflection and restoration.
The 1-day Refresher training runs from 9.00 a.m., for a 9.15 a.m. start, until 4.30 p.m. Currently the training is delivered live online by Angela Waden.
STEPs Tutors should attend Refresher training annually to keep up to date and be able to continue to deliver training within their setting. You must have completed the 3-day STEPs Tutor training previously to access the Refresher.
Book directly for your training place via the Booking Bug website, selecting the ‘STEPS’ option. You can then choose your preferred Refresher training course date to book.
