Computing Curriculum Hub

Your local Computing Curriculum Hub is offering several CPD opportunities this term for primary and secondary teachers and planning many more for next year. Many of these come with generous bursaries attached. The hub can also deliver any course from the National Centre for Computing Education’s (NCCE) Teach Computing website to groups of teachers by prior arrangement.

Schools can access fully-funded consultancy from one of the hub’s subject matter experts (SME). SMEs can support schools to improve their computing offer. Bursary funding is also available, payable to schools and colleges who meet the eligibility criteria, upon completion of an action plan.

Bursary eligibility criteria:

  • Secondary schools considering introducing/reintroducing GCSE Computer Science
    • School will receive:
      • 2.5 days fully funded consultancy and guidance
      • £1,400 bursary
      • Additional £4,000 bursary for schools and colleges that have not delivered GCS Computer Science for an academic year or more and commit to delivering it in the next academic year
  • Secondary schools considering dropping GCSE Computer Science
    • School will receive:
      • 1 day fully funded consultancy and guidance
      • £1,400 bursary

      • No bursary
  • OA Primary school

The bursary for SME support is in addition to any funding the hub offers schools and colleges to support professional development. For more information, contact teachComputing@ccc.tela.org.uk.

The hub is setting up a course for teachers to find out how to best use and book industry volunteers into the classroom. Industry volunteers can help make computing more relevant to young people and allow them to consider computing as a future study and career option. The course will run in September, but an additional course may also run in July. Contact teachComputing@ccc.tela.org.uk to join the waiting list and receive more information about this course.
